WHAT IS YOUR ROLE IN MAKING REFERRALS? 

• All congregation members are potential referral agents.
• Congregation members feel they have ownership in the Stephen Ministry program; they understand it, make use of it and value it highly.
• The whole congregation becomes an even more caring, positive community that shares the love of Christ with one another and with those outside the congregation.
• The entire congregation THINKS STEPHEN!
• Referrals are intentional; we all work together to make the system work.

Congregation members:

• Pave the way when their friend(s) are going through a difficult time and simply suggest Stephen Ministry to them.
• Have a basic understanding of Stephen Ministry and what it does
• Seek to do everything possible to make sure that people who need care are willing to receive it and have a good experience with Stephen Ministry.
• Receive permission from the potential care receiver to make the referral.
• Never discuss with anyone that you have made a referral;  confidentiality is extremely important
